Single Flower Sangha | |||||||||

Welcome! We are a small group of warm-hearted, eccentric, highly dedicated Zen students in the Boston area who meet monthly for 3-day meditation retreats (sesshin). Our guiding teacher is George Bowman. What brings us together is our appreciation of George's way of teaching. | |||||||||
| While many of us have practiced for twenty years or more, we are happy to accept serious newcomers to our sesshin. Those new to Zen can click here for a short introduction. |

| When Buddha addressed an assembly at Vulture Peak he said nothing, but silently held out a single flower. No one knew what to make of this except his senior disciple Mahakashyapa, who broke into a broad smile. The Buddha said, "I have the true Dharma Eye, the Marvelous Mind of Nirvana, the True Form of the Formless, and the Subtle Dharma Gate, independent of words and transmitted beyond doctrine. This I have entrusted to Mahakashyapa." |
